re: Over the Hills Poem by Fortinbas of the Oak n Barrel

0

When Balifor and Cherrie were playing Over the Hills and Far away, in lotro, we were approached by Fortinbas of the Oak n Barrel,  he greatly liked our tune,  and sent me these lyrics:

Here's Fourteen Silvers on the Drum
For those Who'll Volunteer to Come
to List and fight the Eye Today
Over the hills and Far Away.

O'er the Shire and O'er the Main
To fornost, Mor-i-A, and Durin's Way
Strider commands and we obey
Over the Hills and Far away.

through smoke and fire and orc and Spell
unto the very walls of hell
we shall stand and we shall stay
over the hills and far away

so fall in Hobbits behind the drum
To finish what Sauron's Begun
Along the Road to come-what-may
Over the hills and far away.

If I should fall to rise no more
as many Bounders did before
ask the pipes and drums to play
Over the hills and far away.

A few lines  I decided to edit and here is what  we sing now:

/sing sings, "Here's Fourteen Silvers on the Drum"
/sing sings, "For those Who'll Volunteer to Come"
/sing sings, "to List and fight the Eye Today"
/sing sings, "Over the hills and Far Away."

/sing sings, "O'er the Shire and O'er the Last Bridge,"
/sing sings, "Through the Shaws, Rivendell, and the Misty Ridge"
/sing sings, "Our chief commands and we obey"
/sing sings, "Over the Hills and Far away."

/sing sings, "through smoke and fire and orc-shield bashed slams,"
/sing sings, "We chase back the hordes to the very foot of Grams"
/sing sings, "Here we shall stand and here we shall stay"
/sing sings, "over the hills and far away"

/sing sings, "so fall in Hobbits behind the drum"
/sing sings, "To finish what Evil eye's Begun"
/sing sings, "Along the Road to come-what-may"
/sing sings, "Over the hills and far away."

/sing sings, "If I should fall to rise no more"
/sing sings, "as many Bounders did before"
/sing sings, "ask the pipes and drums to play"
/sing sings, "Over the hills and far away. "

/sing sings, "so fall in Hobbits behind the drum"
/sing sings, "To finish what Evil eye's Begun"
/sing sings, "Along the Road to come-what-may"
/sing sings, "Over the hills and far away."
